Requisitos para el Examen de Radioaficionado (Laurel VEC)
¡Bienvenidos futuros radioaficionados! Los equipos de examinadores voluntarios de Laurel (Laurel VEC) se enorgullecen de ofrecer sesiones de examen sin costo administrativo para los candidatos. A continuación, detallamos lo que necesita saber y traer para obtener su licencia.
Por favor, lea cuidadosamente la siguiente lista y asegúrese de traer todo lo necesario el día de su examen.
1. Registro FRN (Obligatorio Antes del Examen)
Debe obtener un número FRN (FCC Registration Number) antes de presentarse al examen.

Por regulaciones de la FCC, ya no se permite el uso del Seguro Social en los formularios de examen.
Antes de asistir al examen, debe obtener un FRN (FCC Registration Number).
El registro es gratuito y se hace en el sistema FCC CORES.
Traiga su número FRN impreso o anotado. Sin este número, no podremos procesar su examen.
2. Costos
Costo de la Sesión de Examen (VEC Fee): $0.00 (Gratis).
A diferencia de otros grupos, Laurel VEC no cobra por administrar el examen.
Tarifa de Solicitud de la FCC (FCC Application Fee): $35.00.
Nota Importante: Este dinero NO se paga en la sesión de examen.
Este pago se realiza directamente a la FCC posteriormente.
Una vez que apruebe su examen y procesemos y enviemos sus datos, la FCC le enviará un correo electrónico con un enlace para pagar los $35 directamente a ellos en su portal web. Tiene 10 días calendario para pagar o la solicitud será cancelada.
Las actualizaciones de licencia (Upgrades) usualmente no pagan esta tarifa, solo las licencias nuevas.
3. Identificación (Traer una)
Debe presentar una forma de identificación legal con foto emitida por el gobierno. Las opciones aceptadas incluyen:
Licencia de conducir (estatal) o identificación del estado
Pasaporte
Identificación militar o de oficial de la ley
Tarjeta de identificación del estado
Identificación escolar (para estudiantes)
Si no posee una identificación con foto: Debe presentar dos documentos de identidad que verifiquen su nombre y dirección (ej. Certificado de nacimiento, tarjeta de seguro social, factura de utilidad, estado de cuenta bancario).
Menores de edad: Si no tienen ID con foto, deben estar acompañados por un padre o tutor legal con su propia identificación, quien responderá por la identidad del menor.
Para Candidatos que ya tienen Licencia de Radioaficionado (Upgrades)
Si usted ya posee una licencia de radioaficionado y desea subir de categoría (ej. de Technician a General), debe traer:
Una fotocopia de su licencia actual oficial de la FCC.
Si tiene un CSCE (Certificado de Aprobación) válido de una sesión anterior que aún no aparece en el sistema (que no haya sido procesado aún), traiga el original y una fotocopia.
Nota: Las fotocopias se adjuntan al examen y no serán devueltas.
4. Materiales Permitidos para el Examen
Bolígrafo: De tinta negra o azul (para llenar el formulario NCVEC 605).
Lápices: Dos lápices #2 y una goma de borrar (para la hoja de respuestas).
Calculadora (Opcional): Se permiten calculadoras básicas.
No se permite el uso de teléfonos celulares, tabletas, calculadoras con memorias programables o relojes inteligentes como calculadora. Si usa una calculadora científica (programable), debe demostrar que la memoria ha sido borrada.
Pre-registro (Recomendado)
Aunque algunos equipos aceptan "walk-ins", recomendamos encarecidamente contactar al equipo local de Laurel VEC o pre-registrarse para asegurar su espacio y agilizar el papeleo el día del examen.

Amateur Radio Exam Requirements (Laurel VEC)
Welcome future radio amateurs! The Laurel Volunteer Examiner teams (Laurel VEC) are proud to offer exam sessions at no administrative cost to candidates (FREE).
Please read the following list carefully and ensure you bring everything necessary on the day of your exam:
1. FRN Registration (Mandatory Before the Exam) You must obtain an FRN (FCC Registration Number) before appearing for the exam.

Per FCC regulations, the use of Social Security Numbers is no longer allowed on exam forms.
Before attending the exam, you must obtain an FRN.
Registration is free and is done via the FCC CORES system.
Bring your FRN number printed or written down. Without this number, we cannot process your exam.
2. Costs
Exam Session Fee (VEC Fee): $0.00 (Free)
Unlike other groups, Laurel VEC does not charge to administer the exam.
FCC Application Fee: $35.00
Important Note: This money is NOT paid at the exam session.
This payment is made directly to the FCC afterward.
Once you approved your exam and we process and submit your data, the FCC will send you an email with a link to pay the $35 directly to them on their web portal. You have 10 calendar days to pay, or the application will be canceled.
License upgrades usually do not pay this fee, only new licenses.
3. Identification (Bring One) You must present one form of legal, government-issued photo identification.
Accepted options include:
Driver’s license (state) or state ID
Passport
Military or Law Enforcement ID
State identification card
Student ID (for students)
If you do not possess a photo ID: You must present two identity documents verifying your name and address (e.g., Birth certificate, Social Security card, Utility bill, Bank statement).
Minors: If they do not have a photo ID, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with their own identification, who will vouch for the minor's identity.
For Candidates Who Already Have an Amateur Radio License (Upgrades) If you already hold an amateur radio license and wish to upgrade (e.g., from Technician to General), you must bring:
A photocopy of your current official FCC license.
If you have a valid CSCE (Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination) from a previous session that does not yet appear in the system (has not been processed yet), bring the original and a photocopy.
Note: Photocopies are attached to the exam and will not be returned.
4. Allowed Exam Materials
Pen: Black or blue ink (to fill out the NCVEC 605 form).
Pencils: Two #2 pencils and an eraser (for the answer sheet).
Calculator (Optional): Basic calculators are allowed.
Not allowed: Cell phones, tablets, calculators with programmable memories, or smartwatches used as calculators.
Note: If using a scientific calculator (programmable), you must demonstrate that the memory has been cleared.
Pre-registration (Recommended) Although some teams accept "walk-ins", we strongly recommend contacting the local Laurel VEC team or pre-registering to secure your spot and expedite paperwork on exam day.
